I first discovered Falke's work in the midst of my obsession with Hot Chip a few years ago. I was enamored by his lounge-y version of an already amazing song off The Warning.

I wasn’t disappointed by his subsequent release of the Golden Cage remix last March. I never listened to The Whitest Boy Alive, and had no interest in doing so before my interest was sparked by the FF remix.

Sometimes lounge house can come off as repetitive and slightly boring, but somehow this dude gets it right every time. Pretty much anything that Fred Falke's fingers touch turns to disco gold. In fact, he even stepped up the beat a little with his remix of Pjanoo by Eric Prydz. A little darker and a little more edgy, this track packs more energy than his typically chill beats

Haven’t heard much since August though. Come on Fred, it's a new year. Time to crank out another masterpiece.

Thanks for the post!
<3 the alesha dixon and ladyhawke tracks.
thanks for the tip guys!
fred falke makes french house, not lounge house. There is a huge differnce.
first, i would have to somewhat disagree. i don't believe that Melissa's intention was to tag falke with an erroneous sub genre, but rather to describe the mood he creates with his production. specifically the colours remix in which i agree completely with. The man is obviously a house producer from france, so i think that terminology is rather redundant in a review of his music. especially given the wide range of sounds and styles that fall under "french house" which was first coined by the most irrelevant source on the planet, mtv.*
second, the existence of the sub genre "lounge house" is debatable and for what most would consider to fall under that moniker would just as easily be described as downtempo.
*The term "French house" first used on MTV UK & Ireland during the Christmas holiday period of 1999. It used on an MTV News special, to describe a so called "French house explosion" phenomena. via wiki
Hey Tom,
That's good to know! I'm not exactly a house and lounge terminology guru as you appear to be. BUT I do love to share the dance music I enjoy with others. Thank you for reading my post and enlightening me on the difference between french and lounge house.
Yours Truly,
Melissa
