Cosmic Clearance, a music experience with a festival-like atmosphere, will be held at Limelight on May 9th. Beginning in the late afternoon, the outdoor stage will feature local and national talent, live painting, and vending. Headlining the indoor stage is Shpongle, aka Simon Posford, is the UK's electronic music heavyweight and founder of Twisted Records. Posford's DJ sets demand global attention and bear witness to one of the true pioneers of the psy-trance genre. This summer, Shpongle will be performing American festivals such as Wakarusa, Rothbury, Harmony, and Camp Bisco, as well as afterparties for Phish, The Dead, and Sound Tribe Sector 9. Though Posford has influenced virtually every sub-genre of electronic music, his organic sound, and undeniable ability to move the dance floor, separates him from the rest. Also appearing is M80 Dubstation, a side project of the Disco Biscuits, whose trance fusion jams have captivated crowds and sold out shows for over a decade. Expect this to be Nashville's premier event to kick off the summer.
This show steps outside what you've come to expect from this blog, but it's shaping up to be one serious party. I'll be djing early (6pm-7pm) on the outside stage and it's likely that I'll be hanging out to see what the rest of the night entails. Limited tickets $20 in advance through www.actionsofawareness.org $25 day of show.
